A pattern by The Dollies’ Dressmaker designed for the Simplicity Pattern Company. Styles inspired by vintage 1970s Simplicity pattern designs.
The peasant dress with midriff was styled after the 2 short versions shown on the vintage pattern. A black floral ditsy print was used for one version. It has a matching head scarf like was shown on the vintage pattern illustration. The other version was styled to look like the Gunne Sax type dresses that were so popular in the 70s. It was made from old cream color cotton with a textured woven stripe. Old trim and cluny type lace was used on the skirt. The ties on the midriff is narrow silk ribbon. The length of the skirt can easily be lengthened to make the maxi version.
The drop waist dress with circular skirt was made in 2 versions. One was done in a knit and the other in a vintage 1970s cotton fabric, very similar to what is shown on the vintage pattern. The vintage pattern offered 3 styles. If you have knowledge on how to adapt patterns, it would not be hard to change the pattern to make the 3rd version.
The back-wrap skirt came in 3 lengths on the vintage pattern. Based on one of the pattern illustrations, the sample is made in red gingham with rick rack and eyelet at the hem. The maxi skirt can easily be shortened to to make the midi and short versions.
